Current activities

Supplier Fairtrade Activities - We are working closely with our catering and vending suppliers to promote and supply more Fairtrade products within our buildings.

Sheffield Office Energy Reduction Campaign - This involves engaging staff in a 'switch off' campaign for monitors, PCs and lighting. The facilities team monitor the half hourly metering information through the energy supplier and improve upon out of hours energy usage and shutdowns. The team will be installing movement sensors to control lighting and further reduce energy consumption in association with a Sustainability group headed up by the facilities manager on site. Staff awareness is raised using poster campaigns and direct involvement in the scheme.

Central Computer Room Refurbishment - There will be new more energy efficient air handling units installed along side new blade servers and a server virtualisation programme. Every element of the project is being thought of with the environment in mind. Over and above the energy saving benefits of the new equipment there will be low energy lighting installed, environmentally responsible disposal of existing equipment and rationalisation of power supply to the area.
