On Thursday 4 November Nabarro lawyers Venn King, Nick Burch, and Chris Ford used their "Nabarro Days" to help in the fundraising efforts for London Poppy Day by leading a 10 person team 'selling' poppies in and around Holborn tube station from 6.30am to 7pm.
The team raised a total of £9,925 for the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal and smashed the £5,000 target that was expected of them.
The fundraising efforts at Holborn were part of a larger London-wide operation at over 30 tube stations, which on that day alone, raised in excess of £225,000 for the Royal British Legion. The Holborn team was the 8th highest collecting station, which is impressive given its relatively small size.
London Poppy Day is organised by a group of British ex-army officers and the Royal British Legion. Its aim is to raise funds and the profile of the Royal British Legion's annual Poppy Appeal by mobilising as many of their current and former colleagues as possible and taking to the tube stations and streets of London. This is the second year it has been running and it has met with unprecedented success which will be built on next year.
