We are pleased to report that the firm has donated the grand sum of £37,719.17 to GOSH as a result of the staff's fundraising efforts over 2009/2010, together with a donation from the firm's fundraising committee. This has enabled them them to buy a new patient monitor as well as a PCA pump. The hospital is very grateful - you may read their thank you letter here.
About the monitors
These are patient monitoring systems used in the Intensive Care units. They allow the staff to measure vital signs including heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate and oxygen saturations in sick babies. They will be used on premature babies and babies requiring ventilation who have cardiac problems or any other serious condition. This amounts to 5-8 patients per week.
The sickest and most vulnerable children are admitted to the intensive care units. The new vital signs monitoring equipment allows the medical team to continuously closely watch these children. The monitors are networked, and easily switched to portable systems, so that the sickest patients are always closely monitored, and any change in condition immediately picked up, whether they are on the ICU, or being moved for operations or scans.
The firm will shortly be launching its 2010 Charities of the Year.
