Outstanding Contribution to Charity Award
The first "Outstanding Contribution to Charity" award has been won by Gill Whittle. The award has been introduced to give recognition to those who have made an exceptional contribution to a charity, volunteering organisation or project. Gill was awarded with a donation of £250 to a charity of her choice and a gift as a token of the firm's appreciation.
Carl Dray commented:
"Gill's determination and commitment has been a key to the success of the Charities initiative in Sheffield. When we set up the Charities Group Gill was one of the first to step forward and since then she has given of her time selflessly. She is an inspiration to us all, and a spur to always do more, try harder, push the boundaries and go faster.
Without Gill we would not have had such a wonderful and successful relationship with Neurocare. Together we raised through donations and fundraising a little over £40,000 in 18 months for their Brain Wave Appeal. From taking names at Firewalks, organising 3 Peaks challenges and working with Neurocare to revamp their image and bring their office systems into the 21st Century Gill made a great contribution to us and to Neurocare. Heather Burrell, the CEO at Neurocare, once described Gill to me as "a real diamond and a wonderful person" and warned me never to let her go.
This year Gill stepped down from the Sheffield Committee. Whilst she is not on the committee she is still organising and helping behind the scenes and is a continuing source of support and encouragement to us all. Gill has also taken the opportunity afforded to her from stepping down from the committee in Sheffield to continue to pursue some of her own charitable interests outside of work donating a lot of her own time to charitable organisations like Emmaus and Bluebell Wood.
Thank you Gill for all of your efforts and all that you have achieved!"
