Sheffield singers raise £1,500 for teen cancer ward

The Sheffield Office has raised £1,543 for Sheffield Teenage Cancer Trust by organising and taking part in a karaoke evening, singing Queen, Proclaimers and Bangles songs. The money raised is earmarked for the refurbishment of the new TCT haematology unit at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital which the firm has helped establish with a previous £20,000 donation.

Borrowing Radio One DJ Chris Moyles’ own karaoke band (see www.rockaoke.co.uk), which also donated £168 on the evening, over 120 of the Sheffield office threw aside all inhibitions and performed renditions of Bohemian Rhapsody, Walk Like An Egyptian and a lawyer-baiting I Would Walk 500 Miles with lyrics changed to ‘I would charge 500 hours’. Colleagues voted for their favourite performers and some partners were even voted onto the stage, being forced to participate by popular demand.

Organiser Ben Hendry says: “I always knew the Sheffield office had that elusive X factor! Some of my colleagues actually showed that their talents on the stage outshine their talents in court!
