Sheffield trainees gear up for charity extravaganza
With Christmas already a distant memory the Sheffield trainees on the Contact Nabarro team began 2010 by continuing their preparations for the May Charity Ball by hosting a well-attended wine tasting event at the Wig & Pen pub in Sheffield city centre.
More than sixty participants sampled the flavours and aromas of New World and Old World vineyards, ranging from the "zingy" to the "full-bodied and fruity". A range of light snacks complemented the wines perfectly and all the participants left more knowledgeable about the complexities and characteristics of a variety of wines.
Barry Stanmore and his team of wine consultants at the Wig & Pen guided the 65 guests through the wonderful world of wine-tasting, with the guests taking the opportunity to try everything from a Chilean merlot to a classic German white.
A charity raffle took place during the evening, which also raised funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. In addition, there was a competition for those with the best-attuned taste buds, with the lucky winners walking away with a meal for two at the Wig & Pen.
