Corporate Responsibility: A reflection of our commitment

Nabarro's "Groundforce" team lends their green fingers to St. Luke's Community Centre

On 9 April 2009 a team of ten eager volunteers from Nabarro used their Nabarro in the Community Day to give the allotments and garden area at St. Luke's Community Centre a complete makeover. The team's activities included weeding, clearing undergrowth, painting a large shipping container, shovelling compost, spreading bark and sowing seeds. The Centre's environmental outreach officer, Matthew, also taught the volunteers how to take cuttings and weave a live willow arch.

The volunteers' hard work was rewarded by a splendid lunch put on by the Centre and some very enthusiastic feedback from the host: "You all worked incredibly hard and got so much done in the day, the whole outside area now looks fantastic… we would never have been able to do all this work without the help of your team".

When asked what they enjoyed most about the day, volunteers stated:

"The combination of being able to spend a day in the open air doing something so different to my normal day job whilst knowing that what was being done was actively helping a community of people far less fortunate than myself."

"Seeing the incredible difference we were able to make in one day!"
